In this project,
part of the existing deck was incorporated into the new screened porch. With dimensions of 10' X 21'6", the screened
area provides a nice, shaded, multiple use space. Most of the structure below the roof was built with pressure-treated
lumber - stained solid white, while the roof framing is spruce. The sloped ceiling inside has exposed rafters that
were clear-coated to prevent discoloration over time. A pressure-treated toungue and groove flooring was used to provide a
smoother finished floor than one with traditional decking. The T&G flooring will also provide a better barrier to bugs
than screening and traditional decking.
