This arbor is likely the final evolutionary feature of this house. When the deck was originally
built, there was an arbor at the opposite end of the deck - now a screened porch. When I dismantled the original arbor, I
was able to save some of the wood to be used again in the new one. Arbors are particularly nice to have over portions of a
deck. They offer some partial shade and LOTS of places to hang things (plants, swings, bird-feeders, wind-chimes....).
