Before this deck, there was only a set of steps leading straight out and down to grade. They were
the same width as the door, and the storm door opens out. This created a little bit of an awkward access, especially with
groceries or children in hand. Rather than build just a small stoop, a 12' x 10' deck with lots of built in seating was decided
upon. The deck was designed so that the stairs would meet the existing walkway. 2x6's were used for the decking
and a wide 2" x 8" cap was used on the deck rail and behind the benches. All of the corners of the cap were rounded and sanded.
