Wells - Deck (Ipe)
Well, here it is. Someone finally
asked me to build them a "dream deck" (at least from a carpenter's point of view). This deck is multi-level, over 1200 s.f.,
and includes bench seating, planters, hot-tub, Ipe (pronounced: eepay) decking and railings, moveable fireplace, and
screened porch. This is my largest and finest deck project at a residence to date.
Ipe is a very hard, dense, furniture grade wood that is naturally resistant to
water and termite damage. When installed and cared for correctly, it can really be a beautiful enhancement to any home.
This is a magazine photo that the homeowners gave me as a basis for their new deck.
